There are four steps necessary to put yourself in a position to run for the student representative position on the National Council:
1) Indicate your interest before June 1. Yay! You have completed that step.
2) Complete this form, called "Statement of Interest" and submit it on or before June 7. Note, we would like a headshot for the ballot and also your résumé, which you may upload here.
3) Participate in a screening interview by Zoom (web-based conferencing tool) with members of the Standing Nominations Committee. This will be June 18 with other dates TBA.
4) If selected by the Standing Nominations Committee, stand for election with other candidates during the conference by presenting a two-minute speech to the delegates assembled in conference on August 7, 2020.
Statement of interest -
Your statement of interest will be supplied to the Nominations Committee and, if you are slated by the Nominations Committee, to all delegates attending the conference.
A statement of interest should contain 1) significant campus and community activities; 2) a realistic description of your college, grad school, intern, and work obligations from August 2020 through August 2022; 3) an example of a time when you successfully served on a board and what brought about that success; and 4) a forecast of the ways that you would contribute to the National Council of Mortar Board.
