There are four steps necessary to put yourself in a position to run for the student representative position on the National Council:
1) Submit a statement of interest here on or before June 10.
2) Participate in a screening interview by telephone with members of the Nominations Committee. The executive director will arrange an appointment soon after you have submitted your statement of interest.
3) Stand for election during the conference by presenting a two-minute speech to the delegates assembled in conference.
Statement of interest -
Your statement of interest will be supplied to the Nominations Committee and, if you are slated by the Nominations Committee, to all delegates attending the conference. A statement of interest should be 300 words or fewer in length and should contain campus and community activities; career aspirations; description of your college, grad school, intern, and work obligations from August 2017 through August 2019; an example of a time when you successfully served on a board and what brought about that success; and a forecast of the ways that you would contribute to the National Council of Mortar Board.
